Meet the Dazey Lady: Bonam
Bonam Kim is a sculptor based in Boorklyn, NY. She received her BFA and MFA degree from Hong-ik University in Seoul, South Korea. In 2016, she completed her second MFA in sculpture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She was featured as an emerging artist from DongBangYoGae, Art in Culture magazine in Seoul. She has participated in the residency program at Trestle Art Space in Brooklyn, NY (June - December, 2016) and awarded the Stutzman Family Foundation Graduate Fellowship for her residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT (Fubruary, 2017). She completed a three-month residency at NARS Foundation in Brooklyn, NY (April - June, 2018) and the Wassaci Project in Wassaic, NY (October, 2018).
In Korean Hannah means "one," for Judaism, heavenly grace, in Arabic it represents happiness, within Japan, a flower, while in Maori it's the act of glowing. I designed my candle to honor that immanent beauty and humanity.
